DIG this week's security tip

Artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots have been in the news lately. Have you wondered what they are all about and how they could help your organization be more efficient?

Chatbots like ChatGPT, Chatsonic, and YouChat are often called “language machines” that use statistics, reinforcement, and supervised learning to index words, phrases, and sentences. They have no real “intelligence”, but it can effectively answer questions, write articles, and summarize information.

By leveraging the power of AI, your organization can:

  • Understand and respond to customer inquiries.

  • Provide 24/7 service to customers.

  • Handle high volume of requests at one time.

  • Automate repetitive and low-value tasks.

  • Learn and adapt to customer interactions over time.

There are caveats to using AI chat though. They are limited to the information they can access and the complexity of the request tasks. This means AI may:

  • Occasionally generate incorrect information.

  • Struggle when handling complex tasks.

  • Produce harmful or bias content.

  • Have limitations understanding context, idioms, sarcasm, and ambiguous language.

In the DIG’s opinion, AI has efficiency advantages, but human supervision is still needed to ensure the content produced is appropriate, and meets your needs.
