DIG this week's cyber tip

A recent research study has found brute-force hacking can crack an 8-character password in about one hour. The same study also found any password with less than seven characters can be brute-forced "instantly." The time it takes to brute-force a password has significantly been reduced due to advances in both computing power and the methods used by hackers.

Is your password easy to crack? To test how long it would take a hacker to crack your password and have access to your accounts, check out How Long Would it Take to Crack Your Password? Find Out! - Randomize (random-ize.com) Were you surprised by your results?

If you are currently using passwords that are easy to crack, update them to strong passwords of at least 10-characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. If you have trouble remembering all your passwords, set up a password manager.
